  4. Why does conversion sometimes look messy?   
 
PDFs store content by position, not by semantic structure. If the PDF uses columns, floating text boxes, or unusual fonts/spacing, the extracted reading order can be imperfect. Re-exporting the PDF or trying a different version of the file often helps.
 
 
  5. Can you convert scanned PDFs or images?   
 
If your PDF is scanned (image-only), there may be little or no selectable text to extract. In that case you'll need OCR first (using an OCR tool) and then convert the text-based PDF to Markdown.
